L'ONU a appelé lundi le monde à être plus ambitieux en matière de lutte contre le changement climatique avant qu'il ne soit trop tard, au premier jour d'une réunion de quelque 200 pays signataires de l'accord de Paris. "Le laps de temps qui nous est imparti pour s'attaquer au changement climatique arrive bientôt à échéance", a déclaré à Bonn (Allemagne) la responsable climat de l'ONU, Patricia Espinosa. "Nous devons accroître radicalement nos ambitions" a-t-elle insisté lors d'une conférence de presse retransmise sur Internet. Des engagements trop faibles. L'accord de Paris sur le climat de 2015 vise à contenir le réchauffement mondial sous les 2°C, voire 1,5°C, par rapport à l'ère préindustrielle. Mais les engagements de réduction d'émissions de gaz à effet de serre pris jusqu'à présent par les États signataires conduiraient à un monde à +3°C. "Une augmentation de cette ampleur serait extrêmement déstabilisante. Nous ne pouvons pas le permettre", a souligné Patricia Espinosa. |
